Our Mission

In 1879, when Thomas Edison invented electric light bulb using bamboo filament
in America, Daisuke Nagata started manufacturing bamboo products for export to overseas in Kobe, Japan. Edison said “Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.” Until reaching bamboo, Edison tried thousands of different material for filament but it didn’t bother him because he was confident of his inspiration that some material should fit for lighting.

Nagata’s business started with the inspiration of Daisuke Nagata to export bamboo
products which had never been sold outside Japan on large scale commercial base.
To satisfy oversea customers, D.Nagata made every effort to improve quality of the products until Nagata Bamboo became world quality standard.

Since then, during the last 140+ years, Nagata’s business has developed from bamboo
to industrial engineering field like mechanical, electric, electronic and petro-chemical products. But its initial spirit of inspiration and perspiration to satisfy customers has not changed at all in these 140+ years.
